About Grace Buchele Mineta

  1. What’s really hilarious is how people in Lima will gape at you if you carry an umbrella since it hardly ever rains there. Some even asked me in spanish once, “Que es eso?” (What is that?) My host mother when I was a student in Peru laughed at my handheld umbrella.

    • I noticed there was a lack of umbrellas in Lima. Does it really not rain? That’s kind of cool, in an odd way.

      • Sometimes like once in a blue moon they’ll get a hard rain. And maybe once a year there will be a hard mist that slightly dampens clothing. But pretty much it never rains there.
